Artlands is thrilled to be part of Creative People and Places Swale and Medway and is pleased to announce that as part of the CPP programme of initial events aimed at getting out and about and talking to people we have arranged a pop-up cinema event on the wonderful Edith May. All the details are below and if you would like to reserve a free ticket – please let us know!

Pop-Up Cinema, organised by Artlands North Kent, 6.30 to 9pm, Sunday, March 24, onboard Thames sailing barge Edith May, Lower Halstow Dock, Lapwing Drive, Lower Halstow, near Sittingbourne. Contact fiona@artlandsnorthkent.org.uk A free pop-up cinema event. The truly remarkable and acclaimed Terence Davies film Of Time and the City is both a love song and a eulogy to his native Liverpool, exploring memory, reflection and how a place can change and influence the people that live there. The inspiring film demonstrates an affinity between Liverpool and North Kent as it reflects upon the former’s industrial past, sympathetically and creatively articulating a sense of place. Refreshments will be served, booking is essential via the email address above, parking is available and access onto the boat is limited.

Happy New Year from Artlands. We are excited to announce that after lots of testing and re-working, Bearpits and Landmines by Anna Best working in collaboration with Mudlark is about to hit the itunes app store (downloadable for free). We will upload a link and look forward to your comments and feedback.

We have been busy making plans for 2013 and 2014 and are thrilled to be part of the Swale and Medway Creative People and Places project! While we have been planning and putting the various infrastructures in place – 2013 promises to be a very creative year indeed! The beak….

We have nearly resolved the last elements of the building which include the majestic beak…. Just some tiling and sanding to do and we will be done.

Wonderful Weekend Workshops

Thanks to all those who took part in our Ecology of Colour workshop programme. Thanks also to Hunt and Gather and their brilliant team of workshop leaders who provided such diverting activities such as beeswax candle making, darning and knitting and honey chocolate production. We are now back working on the finishing touches of the building and will be announcing some Winter film screenings shortly!

We look forward to welcoming you to free drop in creative workshops, suitable for all ages each weekend of October. Each workshop will run from 2.00 – 4.30pm.They will take place on the 6th and 7th, 13th and 14th, 20th and 21st and 27th and 28th.
